Ways to Give

"It's not how much we give but how much love we put into giving." —Mother Teresa

At Elmcrest Children's Center, our cause is building on the promise of children and families. Every day, we change lives and even save lives by helping children overcome obstacles not of their own making and helping them build a path to a brighter future. It's an important job, and it wouldn't be possible without our family of supporters.

We could use your help. How you give is up to you, but every gift matters and is appreciated.

Annual Fund

There's no greater joy than helping a child learn, grow and thrive. We know. We do it every day, but our work would be impossible without our family of supporters. Each year, they renew their commitment to helping the children of our community. By making a gift to Elmcrest's annual fund, you can feel joy in knowing that you're helping each Elmcrest child build a path to a brighter future.

Matching Gifts

Matching gifts can double or even triple your gift to Elmcrest. Many companies encourage employee contributions to worthy charities through matching. Some even match gifts made by retirees or spouses. If your employer matches donations, complete the employer-provided matching form and send it to Elmcrest with your gift. Elmcrest will do the rest.

Stocks and Other Investments

By donating appreciated stock directly to Elmcrest, you:
• Avoid capital gains tax
• Deduct the full market value of the stock
• Maximize the impact of your gift to help children overcome major life challenges
For details, contact Chris Iven at civen@elmcrest.org or 315-446-6250, ext. 355.

Charitable IRA Rollover

If you're 72 or older, you can donate up to $100,000 from your individual retirement account directly to charity. The contribution counts towards your required minimum distribution and isn't included in your adjusted gross income. That could qualify you for tax breaks and reduce or eliminate taxes on Social Security benefits. For more information about a charitable IRA rollover, also known as a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) contact Chris Iven at civen@elmcrest.org or 315-446-6250, ext. 355.

Leaving a Legacy

One sentence in your will can make a lifetime of difference.

A planned gift, such as a bequest in your will or trust, life insurance designation, or stock donation, ensures your support for the children we serve well into the future. Your gift will create a legacy that will impact youth in our care today and for generations to come. Adding bequest language to your will or living trust is easy. It can be just adding a single sentence. A bequest can be unrestricted, enabling Elmcrest to direct your funds where future need is greatest, or restricted to a particular program or Elmcrest location.

We recommend using the following words in your will.

I give the sum of $___ (or I give ___% of my estate) to  Elmcrest Children’s Center, 960 Salt Springs Road, Syracuse, NY 13224 (tax id: 15-0539090) to be used or disposed of as its Board of Directors deems appropriate in its sole discretion.

For more information, consult your lawyer or contact Chris Iven at civen@elmcrest.org or 315-446-6250, ext. 355.
