Ways to Give
"It's not how much we give but how much love we put into giving." —Mother Teresa
Make your donations go farther! Many companies encourage employees to donate to their favorite charities by matching their contributions, sometimes dollar-for-dollar or more. If your company is eligible, request a matching gift form from your employer and send it completed and signed with your gift. We will do the rest. The impact of your gift to this organization may be doubled or possibly tripled! Some companies even match gifts made by retirees and/or spouses.
Julia M. Kondratowicz Scholarship Fund
Julia M. Kondratowicz came to Elmcrest in 1996 as a social worker at our group home located in Skeele Valley. During her 17-year tenure with the agency, she exhibited uncommon skill, an extraordinary capacity for work, and a devotion to children that set a standard to which we all should subscribe. In January of 2013, Julia left Elmcrest to more fully attend to her second battle with a cancer that eventually claimed her life. She left Elmcrest and all who knew her so much better than when she arrived.
The Julia M. Kondratowicz Scholarship Fund is awarded to high school graduates who have participated in one of Elmcrest’s programs or attended its on-campus school, and who wish to further their education at a two-year, four-year, or vocational institution of higher learning. A student who meets and sustains the requirements of the program may receive an award of up to $5,000 annually for up to four years.
Your contribution to the Julia M. Kondratowicz Scholarship Fund will ensure that our youth in care will be able to continue their journey toward a fulfilling life.
Memorial & Tribute Gifts
Memorial Gifts provide a special way to reach out to family and friends to express sympathy for the loss of a loved one while providing support for Elmcrest Children’s Center’s many programs. When your Memorial Gift is received, Elmcrest will immediately send a card to the person you designate, in your name, with a brief message expressing your sentiment. The amount of the gift is not mentioned in the card, but you will receive separate acknowledgement of your tax-deductible gift for your own files. Your gift is also acknowledged in our quarterly newsletter section called In Remembrance Of…. The name of the person you are honoring will be listed.
A Tribute Gift is very similar to a Memorial Gift, except that you are making a gift "in honor of" a special person (living) or event in your life. Some examples of tribute gifts include celebrating an accomplishment by a loved one, birthdays, anniversaries, birth of children and other special events. Gifts are also acknowledged in our newsletter section called In Honor Of…

A planned gift, such as a bequest in your will or trust, life insurance designations, or stock donation, ensures your support for the children we serve well into the future. Your gift will create a legacy that will impact our youth for years to come. Adding a bequest to your will or living trust can be as simple as adding a single sentence. A bequest can be unrestricted, enabling Elmcrest to direct your funds where future need is greatest, or restricted to a particular program or Elmcrest location.
Here's our preferred bequest language; take this to your attorney to use as a starting point. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Each year Elmcrest helps thousands of children and their families receive the help they need to overcome significant barriers in their lives. However, even with a dedicated and supportive staff, there is much more to be done.
We rely on the generous support of a caring community through our Annual Appeal, which enables us to continue to open new paths to the future for our young people. Your generosity demonstrates to these children that their lives are important -- that there are people around them who truly care. If you would like to receive information on our Annual Appeal, please sign up here.
Youth in care at Elmcrest have been through a lot in their lives, and while they are here, they continue to diligently work to overcome hurt and struggle from the past and build positive futures for themselves. It is very important that while they are at Elmcrest, they are provided with the most supportive, comfortable and home-like setting to help them through this process. As part of our treatment, we seek to provide activities and opportunities to help our youth learn new things, discover talents and develop the skills they will need to be successful in life.
If at any time you would like to make a donation by sending items listed below, your generosity and help in this process would be greatly appreciated. Below is a list of items we frequently need and use, or are in search of to help us achieve these goals. All items are used entirely for the youth and by the youth. Please send items to Elmcrest Children’s Center, Attn: Janene Bartell, 960 Salt Springs Road, Syracuse, NY 13224.
