The staff at Elmcrest’s Early Education program showed their support for people with autism during Autism Awareness Month in April. T-shirts that read “Be Kind” and “I Wear Blue for Autism Awareness,” were worn proudly by staff.
Autism is a developmental disability that affects the way people experience the world. This may include differences in processing senses, thinking, physically moving, communicating, socializing, and going about daily living. April was Autism Awareness month until 2021, when it became Autism Acceptance Month, created by and for persons with autism. Awareness stirs the need to respect the rights of people with autism and help support their needs.
