All last month – 12 youth at Elmcrest researched famous persons and created exhibits for the Black History Month Living Museum. Their dedication was an amazing success. Each child chose his or her favorite and prepared a mini booth with photos and bios of the person they chose to represent. Elmcrest residents and staff were treated to their exhibits and some lively entertainers who brought “stars” to life.
They highlighted the accomplishments of their heroes – some famous, — some “unsung.” Charlotte E. Ray, Duke Ellington, Vanessa Williams, Billie Holiday, Madam C.J. Walker, Earl Lloyd, Arthur Wharton, Misty Copeland, Da Brat, Henry Brown, Matt Maxey, and Paul Cuffee. Congratulations to all these boys and girls for a remarkable tour of African American History.
