Three of the boys from Cottage 3 are the proud producers of a new computer. For several weeks, they participated in a Build Your Own Computer program at Onondaga Free Library. The end-result was an Intel core 15-11400 CPU, a motherboard with wired and wireless capability, RAM, SSD, tower case, and all the essential components for a functional internet-enabled machine.
The boys have the computer fully operational on campus now and shared with others in the residential program. The children use it for schoolwork, homework, research, to download music, and play games. The school gave them a cart, so it has become a mobile computer, traveling where needed. This has been an exciting learning experience for those involved, and a bonus for the rest of the children in Cottage 3.
