Social Studies never was more exciting! This past weekend four Elmcrest students and their teacher attended a rousing production on historical figures and facts. Fun in social studies? They saw HAMILTON!
This live performance of the Broadway musical for the past seven years has taken the country by storm. Their tickets were arranged by the Syracuse City School District, affiliated with Elmcrest’s campus school. The production was staged at the Landmark Theater.
What a show this was! HAMILTON’s Creator, Lin-Manuel Miranda, deliberately cast non-white actors to play the roles of this Founding Father and his peers. Miranda describes this production, that raps in song, as “America then, as told by America now.”
Reviews from the students confirmed this was an amazing experience. Broadway in Syracuse — an exceptional way to learn history.
