We are thrilled to announce that Elmcrest Children’s Center has been recognized with the “Friend of Children Award” by the New York Association of School Psychologists (NYASP). This prestigious award honors individuals or organizations that have made a significant impact on the lives of children and their families, particularly those advocating for child well-being outside of the school psychology profession. Elmcrest is deeply proud to be among the select few honored with this distinction.

At Elmcrest, our mission is centered on providing support to children and families facing emotional, behavioral, and developmental challenges. Each year, we serve over 2,800 children across 27 counties in New York State through a variety of programs, including residential care, mental health crisis respite, early education, and more. This award is a reflection of the dedication and hard work of our staff, volunteers, and community supporters who make it possible for us to continue our mission.

Helen Kelley, Elmcrest’s Agency Development Officer, shared her excitement for this recognition, stating, “Being honored with the Friend of Children Award by NYASP is a testament to the heart and soul of our work. Our team is committed to helping children overcome challenges, and this award serves as a reminder that our efforts are making a real difference in their lives.”

The Friend of Children Award is given to those who work tirelessly to enhance the well-being of children and provide much-needed support to families beyond the realm of traditional school-based services. As an organization, Elmcrest’s approach is holistic, addressing the immediate needs of children in crisis while supporting long-term development and family reunification.

We are honored to be recognized for our dedication to helping children reach their full potential, and we are more committed than ever to continuing this important work. Whether it’s through our residential programs, foster care services, or trauma-informed care initiatives, Elmcrest remains a vital resource for children and families navigating life’s toughest challenges.

As we celebrate this recognition, we also want to take this opportunity to thank our incredible team, volunteers, and supporters who make everything possible. Without your unwavering support, this achievement would not have been possible.
