The Year of the Children
The children at Elmcrest flourished amid the challenges of this past year, thanks to our dedicated Elmcrest supporters. Generous donations funded special projects, field trips, sporting activities, movies, birthday, and holiday celebrations.
Winter months were filled with snow contests, sledding, Black History month projects, leprechaun stories, and honors at school.
Spring brought science projects on the pond, raising new puppies for Helping Hounds, get-well logo art to encourage a Buffalo Bills fan, and Teacher Appreciation Week.
Summer brought a demonstration by the Syracuse Police Department with their K-9 dogs, a memorable fishing trip on Skaneateles Lake, a major initiative for summer jobs, and the Peer Mentoring program.
Fall meant Halloween decorations, costumes, hayrides, “Gratitude Month,” and personal account of why we give thanks.
Our staff is dedicated to the education, character-building, behavioral modification, and social skills that can change the lives of the children in our care. The above-mentioned activities are the “extras” that do not fit any government funding category.
But these are the every-day essence of childhood.
Thank you to all our donors for helping to make these happen.
All good wishes for a safe and happy 2022.
