More than Meets the Eye

Elmcrest teenagers landscaping on campus through the EPIC Program

The teenagers at work here are learning more than landscaping. They are part of Elmcrest’s EPIC program (Education/Exploration, Preparation, Involvement, Community). EPIC teaches the children how to operate in the world of employment. They learn how to apply for jobs, act professionally in a work environment, and develop problem-solving skills.

Employability skills exceed the actual job responsibilities. The boys and girls learn how to manage income, create a budget and the importance of savings.

EPIC is a year-round program at Elmcrest, offering job opportunities in cooking, cleaning, office work, and groundskeeping. As an added benefit, some job openings help with fall cleaning on the grounds at Elmcrest.
