Elmcrest, Spirit of Hope Challenge

Youth's paper crane creation

Students and staff at Elmcrest are engaged in making origami paper cranes. According to Japanese tradition, folding 1000 cranes may make one special wish come true. Cranes are said to live 1000 years, and a group of 1000 is known as a Senbazuru. They often are strung in rows along the ceiling.

These colorful paper cranes can uplift spirits and honor cultural traditions. When the Elmcrest “artists” create their Senbazuru, they will send them out into the community.  These vibrant paper birds may bring a smile to many and a spark of “Elmcrest hope.”
