*NEW* Elmcrest's Therapeutic Foster Care


May is National Foster Care Month and this years theme is "Empowering Caregivers, Strengthening Families," To celebrate, Allison Spaulding, Director, Residential Programming and Community Operations and Mari Shoen, Program Coordinator of the program, recently appeared on Bridge Street to talk about Elmcrest's new Therapeutic Foster Care Program.

The Elmcrest Therapeutic Foster Care (TFC) Program, approved by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services, is a specialized program designed to match high needs foster children with specially trained foster parents.   We are committed to recruiting, training, and fully supporting our TFC foster parents, children, and birth families.

Elmcrest's is committed to providing:

  • Monthly supplemental training from outside expert providers based on foster parent interest and need.
  • 24/7 phone access to Elmcrest TFC staff for support or crisis management
  • Licensed clinicians who provide direct mental health and transistion services to foster children, parents and birth families.
  • Skill Builders who meet with foster children 1-3 times a week to teach valuable skills while providing consistent weekly respite for foster parents
  • Respite care.
