Elmcrest's Diagnostic program accepts referrals for preadolescent and adolescent males who need emergency placement and/or a diagnostic evaluation. Youth who receive a diagnostic evaluation undergo psychological and psychiatric evaluations, as well as assessments in environment, recreation, sexual behavior risk, victim trauma and substance abuse. These assessments may be included in the final medical and educational report, as they provide insight into a child’s behavior, diagnostic impressions and treatment and placement recommendations.
Since this program is not designed to serve female youth, Elmcrest has successfully completed diagnostic evaluations on young girls while they reside in other programs on campus.
